First-ever All Extreme Ride

In November, Cycle for Survival held the first-ever All Extreme Ride in New York City. Riders rode four back-to-back hours, and committed to raising a minimum of $4,000 in support of rare cancer reesarch.

2019 Recap - All Extreme Ride

“Because they said I couldn’t sit on a bike — and I had to prove them wrong. Because I have survived rare cancer twice and know the importance of the research. Because I can — I ride for those who can’t, and for those who will be affected by a rare cancer in the future.”

December Challenge

In December, the Cycle for Survival community rose to the challenge — raising $2 million to accelerate discoveries in rare cancer research, with $1 million going to organoids: mini 3D versions of a patient’s tumor that are used to test drug effectiveness and predict response to treatment.

Our Founding Partner

Thank you to our extraordinary founding partner and host, Equinox. From the hundreds of instructors who lead us in the rides, to the club and corporate staff, and beyond — we are so grateful for their outstanding commitment to beating rare cancers. This year, Equinox’s generous match of $400,000 propelled us to a monumental milestone: over $200 million raised since Cycle for Survival’s inaugural event.

Jen's Bike

At all Cycle for Survival events across the country, participants took turns riding Jen’s Bike — named in honor of our co-founder, Jennifer Goodman Linn. This special bike stands as a reminder that every person has the power to make a difference in the fight against rare cancers. Thank you to everyone who rode this bike.

2019 Recap - Jen's Bike

"I fought my cancer hard with all of my heart, and with the best care in the world. Three years later, I am still here and fortunate enough to ride as a survivor. I am lucky — I have the incredible opportunity to ride for everyone at Memorial Sloan Kettering who helped save my life."

FDA Approves Breakthrough Treatment

Larotrectinib is the first drug that’s designed to outsmart a specific set of genetic mutations, regardless of cancer type. Genetic mutations are found when patients have their tumors sequenced, which Cycle for Survival helps fund. Doctors at MSK led the clinical trials for this breakthrough treatment.

“When I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, my life came to a screeching halt. I knew I had to keep on moving forward each and every day. But I couldn’t do that alone. To me, Cycle for Survival is about community. It’s about connection. It’s about contribution. It’s about celebration. We are all in this together.”

MSK Rides With Us

An incredible 230 employee-led Memorial Sloan Kettering teams pedaled with us in 2019. MSK doctors, nurses, leadership, and staff go above and beyond for their patients. Cycle for Survival is proud to be part of MSK, and grateful for its endless support on and off the bikes.
