Riding for Hope

In 2021, Cameron Cavagnaro was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just 3 months old. His dad, Jeff, remembers holding Cameron on the day the family received the news. He was barely the size of his forearm. It seemed impossible that such a little boy could face such an awful disease, he recalls. “Does he actually stand a chance?”

Not wanting to waste any time, Jeff and his wife, Nataly, immediately started searching for the best pediatric cancer hospitals for Cameron. They decided on MSK Kids, the pediatric program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), and didn’t look back.

Under the care of Neerav Shukla, MD, Cameron overcame his leukemia and was soon back to being a kid again.

Cameron is now 4 years old and loves puzzles and Legos. Jeff calls him a true fighter. In honor of his son, Jeff joined Cycle for Survival and started team Cameron Tough, to support the lifesaving work of Dr. Shukla and other researchers at MSK. His goal is to create a brighter future for more young people and families impacted by childhood cancer.
