We're Close to a New Milestone
Since 2007, this community has rallied year after year to make extraordinary progress possible, accelerating lifesaving rare cancer research and clinical trials to give new treatment options to people who need them. Take a closer look at all we've accomplished together over the years.

Cycle for Survival is founded by Jennifer Goodman Linn and Dave Linn. The first event (then called Spin4Survival) took place on January 28 at Equinox Columbus Circle. It was a 5-hour event with 50 bikes and 230 participants: the friends, families, and colleagues of Jen and Dave.
Total Raised Since 2007: $250,000

Jen and Dave host the second Cycle for Survival event (Spin4Survival) at Equinox Columbus Circle and raised $600,000. The event expanded to include morning and afternoon sessions for 600 participants on 100 bikes.

Cycle for Survival raises $1.2 million and becomes an official MSK event. Equinox is named founding partner. The event moves to Equinox E44th Street, taking over an entire club for the first time, and we ring the NASDAQ Opening Bell. Jennifer Goodman Linn wins the inaugural Self "Women Doing Good” award.

Cycle for Survival raises $2.4 million, expands to a second Equinox location in New York City, introduces its first official event outside of New York City in Chicago, Dave Linn’s hometown, and launches its Extreme Rider program.

Cycle for Survival raises $4.7 million and expands to Long Island, New York, and San Francisco; is covered by the Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, Rachael Ray Show, and the Chicago Tribune; and debuts its first Times Square billboard. Jen is inducted into the Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame.

Cycle for Survival raises $8.3 million and expands to Los Angeles and Bethesda, Maryland. In July of 2011, before the start of the 2012 season, Jennifer Goodman Linn passes away. The Jennifer Goodman Linn Laboratory of New Drug Development in Sarcoma and Rare Cancers at MSK is established in honor of Jen and her legacy of fighting for rare cancer patients. Jen’s family and friends host a satellite event in Livingston, New Jersey, near her hometown. Jen’s Bike launches at events.

Cycle for Survival raises $14 million and expands to Summit, New Jersey; Greenwich, Connecticut; Boston, and Miami, truly becoming a national movement with rides in 10 cities! With help from “Late Night with Seth Meyers” host, Seth Meyers, Cycle for Survival lights up the Empire State Building in orange.

Cycle for Survival raises $20 million and expands to South Bay, Palo Alto, and Orange County, California; Seattle, Washington; and Dallas, Texas. The national movement continues to build with exciting firsts: the inaugural Battle Summit, the Times Square Takeover, and a Good Morning America appearance. In February, we reach a major milestone: $50 million since inception.

Cycle for Survival raises $25 million, hosting rides in 14 cities. Cycle for Survival successfully launches its first annual funding challenge with goal of raising $1 million in one month to fund a DNA sequencer. In March, Seth Meyers publicly challenges 14-year-old Perry Zimmerman to see who can raise the most money. Perry responds by raising nearly $900,000 to Seth’s $5,300.

Cycle for Survival raises $30 million, wins the first-ever Revlon “Love Is On” million-dollar challenge, celebrates 10 years of rides, $100 million raised, and expands to Washington, DC, and Paramus, New Jersey. In honor of 10 years of partnership, Cycle for Survival creates the Equinox Innovation Initiative grants program to fuel game-changing research that embodies the spirit of Equinox. The first industry ride, the Finance ride, takes place in New York City.

Cycle for Survival raises $34 million and expands the New York City industry rides program to now include Finance, Media & Technology, and Real Estate. The inaugural ICAP challenge takes place, rewarding the participants who receive gifts from the most donors.

Cycle for Survival raises $39 million, wins the HALO award, and is named the P2P Professional Forum's Program of the Year. A fourth industry ride was added for Professional Services, and we host the first exclusive JPMorgan Chase event. Cycle for Survival-funded MSK-IMPACT® is authorized by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), becoming first test of its kind to earn this distinction.

Cycle for Survival raises $42 million, takes over the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center on the Today Show, expands the industry ride program to Chicago, hosts the first All-Extreme Ride, reaches $200 million raised since inception, and lights up the Willis Tower to celebrate 10 years of rides in Chicago. A Cycle for Survival-funded drug, larotrectinib, is approved by the FDA as a treatment option for people whose cancer is caused by a genetic mutation called a TRK fusion.

While the COVID-19 pandemic forces the cancelation of the final three days of events, Cycle for Survival raises $40 million. Earlier in the season, we expand to Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and within Los Angeles to Glendale, host two All-Extreme Rides in New York City and Los Angeles, celebrate reaching $250 million since inception, and Jen and Dave Linn are honored by Harvard Business School, where they first met. Cycle for Survival funding helps launch MSK-ACCESS™, a revolutionary diagnostic tool that sequences 129 cancer-associated genes using a simple blood draw.

Cycle for Survival raises $25 million, pivoting events and meeting the moment by hosting the first virtual Battle Summit, and the first outdoor stadium ride at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and the first virtual event experience. Cycle for Survival receives a historic $5 million pledge from Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine through their Crimson Lion / Lavine Family Foundation — the largest gift in program history — and celebrates what would have been Jen’s 50th birthday with the return of the dance video.
